Abstract

Pheochromocytoma is a neoplasm originating from the chromaffin tissue present in the adrenal gland, being rare in felines, presenting few clinical signs and difficult diagnosis. In the present report, a feline presenting the neoplasm was approached, with a sign of progressive weight loss without apparent cause. The ultrasound examination showed a large mass in the topography of the left adrenal gland. The animal underwent the anesthetic and surgical procedure of left adrenalectomy without intercurrences for diagnostic and treatment purposes. The fragment was sent for histopathological examination characterizing the malignant neoplasm pheochromocytoma. After surgery, the animal underwent ultrasonographic follow-up for 1 year, with no recurrence to date.
