Owing to the several aspects of the importance of the Arabian horse and the need to establish the reference values for the blood components of those animals, this study was conceived to measure the values of hematological values of Arabian foals. Blood samples were drawn from 48 healthy animals, ranging from 1 to 10 months of age, for the hematological parameter determination. The erythrocyte count and hematocrit decreased starting from the fourth month of life. The eosinophils concentration increased starting from the seventh month of age. Segmented neutrophils presented marked decrease starting from the fourth month of life. All the animals studied presented erythrocyte and leukocyte values considered normal, and they can be used like values of reference in Arabian foals. KEY WORDS: Equine. Reference values. Hematology.
