STUDY OF THE FORMATION OF ECTOPIC BONE AND HEMATOPOETIC TISSUES INDUCED BY THE IMPLANTATION OF DEMINERALIZED BONE MATRIX IN MICES.

Abstract

Seventy-five healthy mice (twenty-five males and fifty females) were allotted to five groups with fifteen mices (five males and ten females). During the experimental period the effect of the intramuscular implantation of demineralized bone matrix was assessed at 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 days. All the animals received the intramuscular implantation of demineralized bone matrix between the semimembranosus muscle fibers, in both sides. The results showed that the intramuscular implantation of demineralized bone matrix in mice induces the formation of an ectopic bone plaque that is characterized by fibroblastic proliferation (seven days), followed by cartilage (14 days), bone (21 days) and bone marrow (35 days). There was no difference with reference to ectopic bone formation and hematopoetic tissues to attribute to sex factor. KEY-WORDS: Ectopic bone tissue. Ectopic hematopoetic tissue.
