Abstract

The prevalence of infections by bovine leukosis virus in bovines of the Fleckvieh breed raised at São Paulo State, Brazil, was investigated with the glycoprotein antigen (gp 51)in agar-gel immunodiffusion tests. The overall prevalence of bovine leukosis virus antibodies was 9.24 % (44/476); foci of the infection by the bovine leukosis virus existed in 85.71 % (6/7) of the studied herds. The samples arranged according to various age groups showed a higher prevalence in older animals. The values obtained were the following: up to 3 months
